Few countries can testify to occupation of two continents, however Turkey is surprisingly one of them. Surrounded on three frontiers by the Aegean, Mediterranean and Black Seas, the Republic of Turkey occupies an area within the South-East of Europe, known as the Balkans. With a mass of 780,000 km², only 4% of this lies within Europe, geographically known as Thrace, while the Asian area goes by the ancient name of Anatolia.

There are two types of visitor to Turkey; those in search of the acclaimed bleached beaches and relentless sunshine, and those seeking cultural enlightenment from the many legendary cities, temples and biblical sites dotted throughout the land. Iğdır Province beside the Eastern border is home to the country's largest, and most famous peak – Mount Ararat (5,165 metres), said to be the last known resting place of Noah's Ark.

Turkey's administrative capital Ankara lies within the North-West of the country - the second largest city after Istanbul. Ankara is often regarded as the more industrially developed, however plays host to a wealth of fascinating archaic relics; the great Citadel Fortress upon an elevated hill, just over 150 metres above the city; the Temple of Augustus and Rome (dated from 20 B.C). Ankara also provides some of the best shopping promenades in Turkey – the Cikrikcilar Yokusu being the oldest. Apartment rentals in the Kale area of the city are among the most modern holiday rentals in Turkey, and perfectly situated for exploration.

Istanbul, Turkey's culture-capital, lies upon the Bosphorus Straits which divide the Eurasian country. Site of a once great Ottoman Empire, the city has also been dominated by Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine culture – evidence of which litters the city in abundance. The former sovereign palace of Topkapi is a surviving example of Ottoman rule, within which the remains of Byzantine columns have also been found. In the Fatih district, the intact remains of Roman Valens Aqueduct are yet another example of the influences cultures have had upon the city. Similarly to Ankara, apartments within the fashionable Fatih district are among the most sought after holiday properties in Turkey.
